At 11:30pm last night, a sudden random burst of patriotism hit me and inspired me to draw this. xD I was rushing frantically, hoping to get it finished in time to post on Australia Day... and luckily, I made it! -flops, exhausted and sleep-deprived- @___@;;;
For those of you who don't know, the golden wattle is Australia's floral emblem. The other flowers around the border are the floral emblems of each state, although they may not look very accurate as I was using a book of flower drawings rather than actual photos for references.
Time taken: 9 hours
~ Drawn in Adobe Photoshop 5.5 with mouse and tablet ~
(Note: About her right shoe... after drawing her whole leg and the shoe, I realised that the leg did not quite seem to fit into the shoe but I was happy with the shoe and didn't want to change it, so then I kept trying to change the leg to fit properly with the shoe... but I still don't think it worked in the end. xDDD; )
-nodnods- I did have a lot of trouble with the proportions, I spent so much time fiddling about with them and changing them that I eventually gave up. Guess I should probably spend more time on the inital sketch, next time... xD
wow!! Look what Kei can do when she want to draw, has inspiration, and has a tablet in her hands! That is so super good, def. worth the time it took you! I like the golden wattle, and yes you could have spent more time on the background (but seriously it's good enough). What possessed you to draw the girl with blue/brown eyes and weird two colour hair? Kei's proportions have improved heaps! The shoe is slightly off however. The one px lineart looks great. Now I wanna try that. xD Good work.

yannay is really drowning @ uni and will not be around DA much T______________T who said uni was much more relaxing than school~!?
Yay, thanks! It is very glad that the Yan likes it! ^__^ I am still undecided as to whether I like it or not, though... it does not feel like the sort of thing that I would normally draw. ;___;
Apart from being brain-dead and lazy... I thought that maybe leaving the greenery on the edges a bit faded and incomplete-looking would draw more attention to the girl in the centre, rather than having an overcluttered picture. xD
Um, well... if I was going to draw an 'Australian', I wouldn't want to draw a completely European-like person, you know? Because then where does that leave me? So like, half and half... to represent all the multicultural-ness? xD
Yay! But be careful with 1px lineart (actually 4px at 100% canvas size)... it is really difficult to make things go the way you want them to. ><; Maybe that's because you need to have a sketch that is also 1px thick... because with this picture, I did the initial sketch with a large brush that I was comfortable using... and then blew it up even further to cover the whole canvas. So there was a lot of room for error with such thick lines on my sketch... ><;;;;;
